Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia Bolster Economic Ties at Business Council Meeting

Tashkent: Senior officials and business leaders from Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia convened virtually for a session of the Uzbekistan–Saudi Arabia Business Council, focusing on strengthening bilateral investment partnerships, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan.

The meeting featured the participation of Shohrukh Gulamov, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, and Mohammad Abunayyan, Chairman of ACWA Power and Co-Chair of the Council, alongside other prominent figures from both countries’ business communities.

Talks centered on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including transport, road infrastructure, tourism, and healthcare. Particular attention was given to accelerating green energy initiatives, reflecting shared commitments to sustainability and regional development goals.

Uzbekistan presented a selection of high-potential investment projects, developed through extensive sectoral and regional analysis. These proposals, praised for their scalability and attractive returns, captured strong interest from Saudi investors.

The forum served as a significant step forward in deepening economic collaboration between the two nations and showcased a shared commitment to long-term, strategic partnerships.

To date, Saudi Arabia has launched 34 major investment projects in Uzbekistan, with the total investment portfolio reaching $24.1 billion by the end of 2024.
